Tomi Yamamoto, Graduate Associate

Tomi is passionate about working with individuals, couples, and families to explore the infinite possibility of solutions with a systemic and multicultural lens towards healthier and sustainable changes that resonate with clients. She approaches therapy with curiosity and optimism and works collaboratively with clients as they are the experts of their own experiences. Tomi is committed to providing a safe, inclusive, and non-judgmental environment throughout the therapeutic journey.
Raised a military brat, Tomi considers Okinawa, Japan her hometown and moved to Texas for her undergraduate studies. After attaining her Master of Education, she provided academic support and advising services as a higher education administrator for over 11 years to a diverse population of undergraduate and graduate students.
Currently pursuing her Master of Arts in Professional Counseling at Texas State University, Tomi has experience working with individual clients and couples through the school’s Community Counseling and Wellness Center. Her areas of interest include but are not limited to: relationship dynamics, infertility, perinatal journey, intimacy, infidelity, and life transitions.
Outside of therapy and school, Tomi enjoys spending quality time with her family and friends; baking and cooking; playing video games; reading manga; and occasionally daydreaming of vacationing to tropical beaches.
