Joy Williams, Graduate Associate

Joy Williams is passionate about working with both individuals and family systems, with a particular interest in adolescents and parent/child relationships. Joy believes in a collaborative approach to therapy, leading with curiosity and empowering clients as the experts in their own lives. She integrates elements of Narrative Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Structural Therapy, and more to meet the unique needs of each client.

Dedicated to fostering a safe and inclusive environment, Joy strives to provide affirming care for all, including members of the LGBTQIA community. Her work is further enriched by her experience as a Guardian Ad Litem (GAL), where she supported various populations, including individuals with ADHD and autism and those within the LGBTQIA community.

Joy Williams earned her undergraduate degree in Religious Studies from Virginia Commonwealth University and is currently pursuing a Master’s in Marriage and Family Therapy from Abilene Christian University, with an additional focus on children and adolescents. Currently honing her personal therapy style at Austin Family Institute, Joy is excited to grow and learn in a setting that emphasizes innovation and client-centered care. Outside of the therapy room, she enjoys hiking and listening to live music in Austin, Texas, embracing the vibrant culture of her community.
