Jasmin Aquines, Graduate Associate
Supervised by Lauren Masciarelli, MA, LPC-S, LMFT-S
My name is Jasmin Aquines, and my passion for understanding mental health and human connection began during my undergraduate studies at the University of Texas at Austin, where I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Psychology. During this time, I developed a deep interest in how mental health shifts across different life stages—from childhood to adolescence, young adulthood, and beyond. I was particularly drawn to exploring how family systems and cultural environments influence mental health and relationships. This led me to pursue a career focused on working with families, couples, parent-child relationships, and individuals navigating life transitions.
I am currently pursuing my Master’s in Marriage and Family Therapy at Abilene Christian University, where I have received training in systemic approaches, including Structural Family Therapy and Bowen’s Intergenerational Family Therapy model. I aim to take a collaborative, culturally responsive, and strengths-based approach, empowering clients while honoring the unique cultural, relational, and personal dynamics that shape their experiences.
My areas of interest include, but are not limited to:
Anxiety
Depression
Navigating life transitions
Family boundary work
Parent-child relationship challenges
Relational stress
With a passion for helping families realign boundaries and strengthen communication, I often draw from Structural Family Therapy, focusing on family subsystems and the importance of clear, flexible boundaries within the family system. At the same time, I recognize that every client and family is unique, so I am also comfortable incorporating other therapeutic models and approaches to best meet each client’s specific needs and goals.
Outside of the therapy room, I enjoy cooking and learning new recipes, watching movies, dancing, doodling, going on hikes, and spending time with my family. Creativity, connection, and play are vital parts of life, and I often find that these personal joys help me stay grounded in my work with clients.
I look forward to collaborating with you and your loved ones as we explore ways to foster growth, healing, and deeper connection in your life and relationships.
